Let's Get Together!
Franklin County Home Care offers quarterly socials for LGBTIQA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, questioning, allies) older adults, elders and allies. The socials are offered in March, June, September and December. They are free and offer the opportunity to socialize and enjoy a delicious meal in a safe, supportive atmosphere. Light programming provides information in the news and conversation starters, but by far the two hour socials are for meeting and enjoying the company of others and learning about local programs and services that might support you and your loved ones in their aging.
Community sponsors makes these socials happen. 2012 sponsors were Hospice of Franklin County, Baystate Franklin Medical Center, The Arbors at Greenfield, Connecticut River Internists, Green Fields Market, Overlook VNA and Hospice Services.
The next social will be June 26 from 5-8 pm-- an intergenerational supper with LGBTIQA youth from Community Action programs (and other young adult programs) at Greenfield Community College (GCC) Dining Commons, Main Campus, 1 College Dr, Greenfield, MA 01301. Menu is Hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers and buns (gluten free buns available) potato salad, green salad, fruit and cookies for dessert (including gluten free cookies) non sweet iced tea, sweetened lemonade and water. Please RSVP by June 20 to guarantee entree choice but walk ins are welcome. GCC Catering IS NOT a gluten free kitchen but does provide gluten free products like the buns and cookies noted above.
